This is my home page

Introducing https://xmr.nicolasbianconi.com, my monero node!

I am running my own node!

I am running my own https/http node at https://xmr.nicolasbianconi.com:18081

This node is running on my thinkpad server, connected via wireguard to a EC2 vps with a nginx config for it to serve as reverse proxy and provide SSL. The thinkpad server was basically unusable because the disk IO was so high while it was at it. Even on high end NVME SSDs combined with good bandwidth the machine will be unusable due to high disk IO.

It is on monero.fail! xmr

here

I used docker for this, you can host your own using this guys config

This was very eazy, and it comes with this sweet graphs:

Was literally just running the command, the only hassle was the storage and IO. grag

Warnings!

  • Donts:
    • Don’t run this on weak ssd, or raspi pi micro sd, it will ruin them.
    • Don’t do this if have limited bandwidth, pruned nodes use around 100gb, today a full node is taking around 230gb, so if you dont have 230gb of bandwidth to spare, forget it. node (😂 happened to me trying to do this and exausting the data plan at my grandma’s place.)
    • Don’t run this on weak PC, i ran this on a thinkpad T420 took forever and was a hell of an abuse.

Thanks for reading 🤓! Bye!
